1. Safeguarding Policy

 

TUBS acknowledges the duty of care to safeguard and promote the welfare of volunteer children and is committed to ensuring that safeguarding best practice reflects statutory responsibilities.

The policy recognises that the welfare and interests of volunteer children are paramount in all circumstances  It aims to ensure that regardless of age, gender, religion or beliefs, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation or socio-economic background, all volunteer children have a positive experience of TUBS’ activities and events and are protected from abuse whilst participating in such activities or events.

As part of our safeguarding policy TUBS will promote and prioritise the safety and well-being of the volunteer children or young people and ensure that everyone understands their roles and responsibilities in respect of safeguarding.


Monitoring and review


          The TUBS Committee will monitor and review its Equal Opportunities Policy annually.  If necessary it will be adjusted to incorporate any changes to legislation and include any improvements that may have been identified


2. Equality


TUBS believes that everyone has a contribution to make to the town of Bishop’s Stortford and a right to equal treatment.  We aim to ensure that no will be discriminated against on the grounds of:


·         Race, colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin

·         Gender, marital status or caring responsibility

·         Sexuality

·         Age

·         Disability including mental health

·         Political belief or religion

·         Class

·         Employment status

·         Unrelated criminal conviction

 

            3. Inclusion and diversity


TUBS’ aim is to achieve an active membership, which reflects the community in which it operates and believes that its activities and events will attract people from all sectors of the town’s community and that such activities do not discriminate against members of disadvantaged groups.

 

            Policy implementation

            TUBS promotes an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere to its existing and new volunteers.                                                                                

            TUBS’ Equality and Diversity Policy will be displayed on its website.

            All Committee members and volunteers will be expected to adhere to the Equality and Diversity Policy and comply with the rules of behaviour outlined below

 

              The following types of behaviour are unacceptable:

 

·    Attacks on individuals or groups on the basis of their race, gender, age, ethnic origin, disability, class, status or sexual orientation

·     Discriminatory name-calling, insulting remarks, jokes or threats – either verbal or written

·      Encouraging other people to harass or discriminate against another individual or group
